Adeptus Titanicus Warlord – Review

I know I know I promised not to do the Warlord till the end of this slow grow…..Oops!!

As we have come to expect from GW the delivery of such things is spot on. The box is really nice and has a slightly different feel than AoS and 40k boxes. The artwork is spot on and the gives a nice impression of the size of the thing and looks shiny.

While the back gives you a nice look at the model, as well as a load-out of the transfer sheet which I think is really useful!!

Speaking of said transfer sheet it gives you enough to cover 5 titan legions which should keep plenty of people happy. Some of these are pretty detailed transfers and just continue the oozing of quality this kit gives you..

Next we have the instruction book which is full of CAD pictures to help you build which has become the norm for GW so no surprises here.

Finally have the sprues and we have the different frames, one suggests that we could easily see a weapon/head sprue in the future!

Sad panda face, that we don’t get any more load-outs for the weapon systems than the same arm Volcano cannons and the missile carapace.

But the detail oh my the detail!!!

This has to be one of the best GW kits around at the moment (and I have dabbled in many). Now obviously this is down to those lovely CAD designers but the closeness to the 28mm FW big daddy is frankly terrifying. The Knight kitย was a massive wow, this bad boy just grabs you by the jaw and insists you drop it!!

Yes, the kit is pretty in-depth especially the legs (with the orientation catching many out) particularly the number of parts.ย But take your time and follow the instructions (I mean who does that right?) and you wont go wrong.

Most other sections are pretty easy to get to grips with (unless you forget to add a part… I would never do that).

Look at the wiring on the torso section and parts round the shoulder no-one will ever see!!!

One of the least detailed sections is still a lovely piece to look at…yes I spent hours drooling over the kit.

Tiny rivets…..so many rivets!

Now I have an apology to make.

Usually I take pictures for these reviews and show off the finished model in all its grey glory, I do this as it helps show any issues to be wary of… I may have got excited and forgotten to do such things.

The legs will need some TLC to get right but on the whole the kit is very very snug on the build. Anyway enjoy my Tiger Eyes Warlord ready for his transfers to be added.

I went for more of creeper flame look and think it works.

Magnetizing this kit is super super easy! just use the helpful recesses GW have made in the kit and it is possible easier to do then the Imperial Knight kit.

Overall

This is a stunning kit and the best released so far this year and potentially the best in a while!! Well worth the price for less than ยฃ50 from out friends over at Triple Helix Wargames.

Much is still made about the price of the GM box and yes I am going about it differently with the slow grow. But so far I could have shared the GM box with a friend (spent more) and still needed to purchase the ruleset box.

As I have said as far as this slow grow goes, I wasn’t interested too much in the terrain sets just the models themselves and after the purchases I have made through THW I am at ยฃ90 over a couple of months.

So I am half way cost wise to the GM box But I have the rules, a warlord and a Knight unit. Pretty good going without the Boss Lady killing me for going all in with the GM box.

Am I slightly behind the release schedule? Yes I am, but everything is painted and I am in a position to give the game a good trail with what I have.

The question is pick up a Reaver or wait for the Warhounds?!

Beared-itorial

Lots of interesting things appearing on the radar this well..

First Wyrd have a Malifaux Starter set in the works which is pretty exciting. With 8 brand new models for a Guild VS Neverborn-off. What I really like is they are all new models that will appear in the next book but that they are also Mercs so other factions can use them. Very clever approach to starter set and cant wait to see it. Maybe some card terrain as well wyrd? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next up the MASSIVE new model from the GW, Smaug, they have really gone to town with this guy judging by the pictures and the price!!

Amazing something like this can be mass-produced but suppose they are still the biggest so they get the biggest miniature?!

Not overly inspired by the new Primarch BUT my word the base is absolutely stunning. I think better than Horus one, which is saying something..

ย Painting & Hobby

I am on December slow down, always seems to happen this time of year, motivation begins to slow.

Been getting more Malifaux games in recently however I will be moving away from 10T for a while as starting to get a bit of burnt out ๐Ÿ˜ฆ which does mean more Neverborn for a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

So close to Christmas now but with the Outpost it’s always Christmas with 20% off RRP on everything on their site (what? too cheesy?).

Beared-itorial with Tetra Review

This week continues the walk towards the Breast Cancer Brawl tournament next week, so continuing on from last week I will be looking at my other list, but first;

New Dark Elves

OK I have rewritten this section a couple of times now as I swing one way or the other. Hopefully I have calmed down now…

The Warriors are just warriors will wait to see if they are a huge step from the old ones. The new witch elves are stunning straight out of 40k ๐Ÿ˜‰ Shadowblade is also a very nice assassin model..

What is disappointing is the Barney the Hydrasaur which is just bad, how can a monster with dentures look threatening doesn’t even have fangs. While I am unsure about the moving stately home staircase that is the Cauldron of Blood.

We will have to wait and see as I hope that the Executioners/Black Guard are in the supposed second month release AND plastic.

Legion Lists Pre-tournament

So last week was Thagrosh list this week its my shooty list. Again this is based on what I own and have painted over actually being ‘optimal’.

Lylyth Shadow of Everblight shooty list of death list

  • eLylyth
  • Ravagore
  • Ravagore
  • Naga Nightlurker
  • Shredder
  • Striders & UA
  • Deathstalker
  • Forsaken

Another relatively simple list, with the aim to drop the feat early game and hope to cause enough damage my opponent cant come back. With the 2 ravagores doing as much heavy lifting as I can get out of them.

Tau Tetra Review

A bit different this week as well, a friend who hates building stuff ( I know right?) wanted his new shiny Forge World Tetras building. Always fun to build something without instructions and thought may as well review them at the same time ๐Ÿ™‚

So the bits count is pretty low and as always no instructions for them with it being a small kit from FW!!

Generally they stuff was pretty good, however the twin-pulse rifles are very bad as you can see;

There was actually a bar between the 2 under-slung sections of the guns which was a bloody nervous removal to ensure the didn’t break!

Very smooth finish on top, but

not as pretty underneath, at least with this resin it doesn’t take much to clean up!! With the exception of some of the clean up the build itself was pretty easy

Overall a pretty nice kit yes the pulse rifles are bad, but they are not as easy to see once built so maybe I will cut FW some slack there, so not bad and I have a happy Tau player ‘friend’. Speaking of FW;

Sons of Horus upgrades

They now have some very nice new heads and torsos for the SoHs.

I liking them a lot. I must really start-up my SoHs again I have neglected them for far too long, although I hear Iron Hands need some new players ๐Ÿ˜€

Paint/hobby Corner

Legion is almost done everything is finished except for Thagrosh who I hope will be done in time t-minus 7 days!! Pictures of the finished stuff will be appearing soon so keep your eyes peeled. Hopefully I can actually start painting my CoC battlebox now :O

As always any suggests/comments welcome and if you want me to cover anything let me know, as always see you hopefully next week.

outpost 150x150

Also don’t forget to Visit the Outpost, our friendly Yorkshire-based (don’t hold that against them) gaming centre sponsors.

Super Duper Techmarine

If there was ever a time whenย  you wanted to have a super techmarine for your army you now have it!!

Out of the Primarch’s so far he is now top dog now, absolutely love the sculpt!

Makes me want to start Iron Hands lol! Hopefully Horus comes soon so I can get back to the correct path ๐Ÿ˜€

Beared-itorial

A slow week this week with an out of sorts cub being disruptive hobby time has been a little slow, so don’t expect this to be a long post ๐Ÿ˜‰

Horus Heresy Weekender

It would be rude forย  me not to mention all the goodness coming of the HH weekender, alas I couldn’t go so my thanks to Recalcitrant daze blogย  for the pictures. I am only going to cherry pick the bits I like for this rather go through all the pictures I am sure you have already seen.

Mechanicum Castellax Battle-Automata & Magos

So I am liking the Mechanicum army stuff more and more. I can see this being more popular than the legion stuff soon ๐Ÿ˜€

New tank

So we don’t get a name yet but from the looks of things it is a land raider without any transport capacity! It is certainly looking pretty nice, I wonder if you will need the next book to have the rules for it…..mmmmh!

Fulgrim

The Emperor’s Childrens Primarch is certainly a nice looking model but I have to say I love that base! I would love to see a size comparison between him and Angron and he does look a lot smaller to me, although still very imposing!

Kickstater

I know I moan a lot about KS and its use by some companies. However when I saw this one LINK. I may have given in just a touch. The Ork player in me just had to have some of their gun platforms for Zzap guns and the like

So with still some time left on the KS and one of the early bird choices still active and the idea of 3 of these guys for ยฃ10 sits with me very very well. Am I cheap you bet your bottom dollar I am ๐Ÿ˜›

Convergence of Cyriss

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo colossal CoC (juvenile I know :P)

Any one else do this?

This thing is NUTS I love it, silly and over the top doesn’t even begin to explain it…..All I can say is I want one ๐Ÿ˜‰

As far as spoilers go we have the ‘Launch Servitor’ ability, which sounds to be something akin to the Stormwall and his pods and trolls with whelps. What is interesting is yo can pick which type of Servitor you are getting that round and it can still activate means those little guys have a decent threat range themselves.

On top of an apparent large amount of shooting with ‘Accelespikes’ and two yes TWO tow cable drags which lead to some free melee hits before buying more. He certainly has the look of being able to be as popular as Stormwall and Galleon!!!

Getting more and more excited about getting my hands on the book now just to actually read some fluff never mind the rules ๐Ÿ˜‰

Eldar

It would be wrong of me not to mention the new Eldar! I don’t mind the new kits and the Wraith Knight is certainly impressive but I cant help but think we may see Apocalypse models making more of an appearance in normal 40K in a similar vein to what is seen in the 30K rules with the idea of ONE and only one ‘Lord of War’.

But my over bearing thought is where are the new aspect warriors I had so hoped for plastic aspect warriors. This is probably a good thing as I may have band-wagoned for them if it had happened :S

Paint/hobby Corner

So I have been busy when given a chance to get some more Skorne and Orks painted. I have also been toying with ways to make a scratch built Shokk Attack gun just because ๐Ÿ˜€

I am also in the process of thinking of ways of making my Daemons all Tzeentch themed, so watch out for a post about that.

Until next week – As always any suggests/comments welcome and if you want me to cover anything let me know, as always see you hopefully next week.
